Recipe Ingredients:
12 long green chillies
250 gm gram flour
oil, for deep fry
1 tbsp fennel seeds
1 tbsp cumin seeds
1/4 tbsp baking soda
1 cup water
1 tbsp red chilli powder
1/3 cup grated carrot, for garnish
1/3 cup finely chopped onions, for garnish
salt (according to taste)
For Stuffing Chillies:
1 tbsp spicy pea nut powder
1 tbsp spicy chickpea powder
1/4 tbsp fennel seeds
How to Prepare:
Make batter with gram flour, chilli powder, salt, cumin seeds, fennel seeds and baking powder by adding water and keep it aside. Wash and wipe the chillies.
In a small bowl add spicy pea nut powder, chickpea powder and fennel seeds, mix well untill combined. Slit green chillies in the middle and remove seeds, stuff chillies with spicy powder.
In a flat bottomed pan add a tablespoon of oil and shallow fry the stuffed green chillies. Remove them from heat and keep them aside. In the same pan heat oil for deep fry, dip stuffed green chillies in the batter and deep fry in hot oil.
Drain the excess oil using kitchen tissues. Place bhajji on serving plate and garnish with chopped onions and grated carrot. Serve hot.
